After our 998 mini getting a clutch kit last year, it was sluggish and felt like it was running lean(juddering and missing under load)

We'd changed carb, dizzy and tried 3 coils(all 12v, with ballast resistor bypass)

Bought a new AAU needle and changed the coil for the one we fitted along with electronic ignition(65D dizzy) four years ago... Problem solved

Anyway, my question is: has the DLB 105 COIL issues been resolved yet??(coil was bought in september last year)

Cheers

DLB105 won't work with the 65d dizzy, you have to run one compatible with the electronic ignition. I can't comment on the quality, we will no longer stock them

O.E Electronic Ignition 89-on DLB198

This is the standard coil as used on the late Mini with factory electronic ignition. This was a Genuine Rover fitted part on 1275cc. GCL211 is the same equivalent as GCL143 but from Unipart. 1 ohmn

SPI also used the CGL 143 Coil

Lots of posts on the internet where these DLB 105s have failed. or gone pop and blew the end off. I removed mine when I found out the numbers failing in conversation with Minispares, I now have a MSC 105 Sports coil made by Intermotor.

You need either a DLB 198 or GCL 143 to use with your 65D4M distributor

The one fitted was a DLB 105,changed for a GCL143 (which was on the car previously) and its solved the fault(which ive now learnt is the correct one!)

It's lucky the Sportscoil coil failed and made you swap it out really, running the dizzy on a higher impedance coil destroys the module after a while.

We initially thought the modfule had failed Dan, but changed the coil and a couple of plugs :)
