Hi all, I need to find out what Minis were fitted with the remote gear change that had the sandwich plate type fixing and not the 4 bolts from underneath.  I have a gearbox with number 22G1128 with sandwich plate fixing and want a list of all cars it was fitted to.  Any help will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks, Marc

I always thought that those gearboxes were only on Morris / Austin 1100 / 1300s

As Greenwheels states. This type of gearbox / remote fixing was only fitted to the 1100 / 1300 models, Never to the Mini.

Any found in Minis have been swapped from a 1100 / 1300.

It's likely that some made in South Africa and maybe even Italy did, they seemed to do 'off beat' things in an attempt to refine the cars

To sum up.

No UK built ones had them as standard.

pretty sure the remote for the sandwich type was longer than the normal remote by quite a bit.

The remote was the same length (possibly even the same raw casting). The addition of the sandwich plate made them longer, and they used a chunkier rear mount.

And no Aussie Mini left the factory with them either.

These remotes will fit in place of the solid Mini remote type, although the rear mount is different, but you can change it to the Mini mounting by drilling/tapping the two holes necessary to carry the Mini remote mounting. If it has been already modified by a previous owner it can give some the impression they were fitted on Mini's as standard

Apparently Authi Mini's used the 1100/1300 remote & sandwich plate it has been reported on the Mk1 forum during a similar discussion.

However knowing some of the other unofficial oddities and mix ups that have since been proved to have left the production lines in the 1960's and 70's, during parts shortages and frequent strikes at suppliers i guess it is entirely possible that some unofficial hybrids crept through to keep the lines running.......
