Hello all!

Im rebuilding my clubman which has an HS4 carb.

Ive been offered an HIF44 which I hear is great! But will it be great on my 1098cc engine or should I stick to my HS4?

Cheers

If your 1098 engine is fairly standard then I would stick with HS4

As above, unless you've got a significantly modified 1098, then I'd stick with an HS4. Even a stage 1 tuned 1275 should run's fine on HS4, so there should be ample fuelling there for a 1098. If you want a slightly more modern carb then consider a HIF38.

Thanks all for the responses!

It will probably end up as a stage 1 with a cam, but as recommended i will stick to my HS4.

Cheers!

Any tips on suspension kits?

What will the car be used for?

You don't need a suspension 'kit' as such, just a pair of adjustable tie-bars and new bushes to enable the castor to be set accurately. The important settings are the rear with zero to -0.5 degs neg camber and 1 mm to 2 mm toe-in. This can be done by measuring, filing and welding a large washer onto the rad arm bracket which costs virtually nothing.

For competition some negative camber on the front can help.
