Just wondering what every one rated for a fast road toy 1380

It's lowered as low as can go on front all adjustable arms camber etc etc
Rear is lowered quite abit too say about 2 finger gap

I currently have spax krypton shocks on rear used and both adjustable nipples are seized
So looking to get a good set of shocks for my mini I'd like them to be either adjustable so can stiffen them abit

Or just see the kyb gas adjust that people are saying that are brilliant but I'd like to know before I buy

Thanks

Gaz adjustables are excellent! But they are very stiff even on there softest setting.

I've got GAZ on mine and work very well.

Think AVO are supposed to be very good too.

Kyb gas-a-just are reasonably priced. I used them for a while and found them fine, if I was being picky I would have liked them a little stiffer, but on a budget I would fit them again no problem

Do KYB do a shortened version??

If Lee is running the car low (sounds like he is), he'll need shortened shocks either way.

I had KYB's years ago and didn't think much of them....go for adjustables all the way.

The kyb fully closed are shorter than the lowered gaz and the open length is longer than the standard gaz strangely enough.
I agree; I liked the adjustable gaz I had, but when on a budget for road use the kybs aren't to bad. I was put on to them by calver.

Protechs are superb and are fully rebuildable. So at the point in the distant future when they are getting a bit tired it will save you a packet of cash. Worth considering if you are planning on keeping the car a while. I use them on all my minis and nothing comes close for build quality at not crazy money (Penske are MUCH better but are £500 a corner!). Customer service is also superb.

SPAX are fine for a road car.

I am a bit surprised that you have set the car as low as possible, but want to go fast on the roads. A road-going car needs a fair bit of suspension travel for driving quickly on the roads due to the bumps - and UK roads sure can be bumpy! For the roads the dampers need to be set not-too-hard in order to keep the tyres in best contact with the road surface. But when low, a stiffer setting is needed and the car will tend to 'patter' over bumpy roads and won't like bumps in the corners.

Low cars are for the track, or for, apparently, 'looking good' at Mini-meetings, certainly not for going quickly on the roads.

I hope you don't mind my pointing this out as I would hate you to be disappointed after all the super work you have put into your car, and the cost as well, of course :D .

Talking of cost Lee...you've spent a small fortune on your car, don't ruin it by buying cheapo shocks....after all, buy cheap, buy twice.

As Cooperman says, SPAX are very good too (forgot them earlier) and i only recomended GAZ as my car came with them on and they have had a battering doing rallies and still going strong.

Protechs do look rather nice and might consider them in the future, but there aint much between the adjustable Koni's, AVO's, GAZ, and SPAX....what colour would you like should be the question?

Oh, and Bilstein do a mini shock of course...?????  Got some billies on my other rally car and they are superb!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
