ive brought another mini and looking to swap the engine out of my old one into the new one for a few months while i get new pistons replaced and maybe bored.
The mini come with a 1275 engine which i believe has been overbored to 1293 and has a full rebuild gearbox less than 5000miles ago, the owner before me must have trashed the engine and the pistons are gone... im looking to use my 998 engine which is out of a 89 mini city while i gather the funds to fix the other engine... ive got both the engines out and the first problem ive come across in the drive shafts are different .. currently in the car the drive shafts have splines and on my 998 it has a different type of fitting, looks like a series of spheres ... ... is there any other option to get round this than just swapping the driveshafts... can i straight swap the differential?
also im wanting the repaint my engine before it goes in.... can i jet was my old engine down.. or will this do more damage than good? whats the best way to clean it up?
