So I couldn't do the floor until the A pillar was done so I put a load of scaffolding in and cut the whole thing out.

Unfortunately I thought I had a new inner A post but apparently it was the one panel I haven't ordered, the outer A post is all cut to shape and ready to be welded in. So tomorrow will probably go round the car and grind down all the welds I have been ignoring.

So over the last few weekends I have put the inner A post in, welded the outer on, tacked the hinge panel on and trial fitted the door....

There was a problem when I bought the car with the drivers side door being to low and the corner was making a hole in the sill. My solution was to lengthen the hinge holes but loose the check strap in the process. I kind of assumed the panels within the A post were never lined up properly from the factory but the new ones are exactly the same. May have to modify the hinge mounting panel within the A post so it can be welded on higher than originally intended. Before doing so I am going to take the door off my other mini (Fern) and fit that in order to ensure it is not the door at fault.

Has the mini had new sills or the panel that connects the inner and outer sill because it may just be welded on to high ?

It has had new outer sills probably a couple of years before I bought it. If any work has been carried out on that A post before it has been done to a factory standard because there was nothing that gave it away. I fitted the door from the other mini last weekend and it is the same so I think I may just put the hinge panel where it wants to fit (because otherwise the A panel wont sit properly), elongate the hinge holes like before and drill out the spot welds on the check strap bit and move that up to suit.

Deffo don't want to be elongating the A post and moving the doorstep downwards due to the amount of work involved and also because I think it would create other problems.

When payday comes along I will buy some A panels and get on with it.

Yep everyone is having the same issue with PB. Most are using Imgur instead, much better.

Nice work by the way

Imgur works really well from a PC. After you've imported the images select the one you're going to insert in the thread and click on it, you'll see a list appear on the right, copy the very bottom one and paste in your thread.

Where the hell have you been? Been months since last updated.
Repairs are looking great. Can't even see the join.

Photobucket are being a nightmare. Downside of Flickr and Imgur is that you can't post from your phone. But I think photobucket have made a huge mistake with their decision to stop 3rd party hosting. Well done to the moderators of this forum for the fix that allows us to see the many photos that were posted on here.

Was just one of those luls in motivation. And the fact I have been spending all my money on the engine for the clubman... pretty much got all the parts I need for that now, just a few niggley bits to buy for that now.

for those who are interested here is a link to how that is going

Over the bank holiday I should get the floor welded in and hopefully get the CDS tube through the sill.
