Best Answer AlexMozza , 16 February 2015 - 02:50 PM

Solved!

The fuel cut off was messing up, tock it of the car, a quick clean and reset the button, all working now!

Thanks

The fuel pump on my SPi 1996, is not priming.

I have checked all the fuses in the fuse box, all good. I have checked the black box that sits above the servo. I have checked all the relays, and I am getting a resistance of 66ohms (+/- 1)

With the cover off, when the ignition is engaged the fuel pump relay operates for about 3 seconds, then the contacts open again.

I am at a loss at what to look at next!

The black and the white/purple going in to the fuel pump connector, the black should be going to earth, and the white/purple should be 12v live under ignition correct?

Any ideas would be great!

EDIT

It was working before removing the ECU and battery to conduct some welding.

I am unsure if it has an Immobiliser too.

Could this have done it?

 correct

try a direct feed from the battery to the pump; this will rule out the pump itself being the issue

live to the pump from the battery, and then a earth circuit on the other pump connection?

I take it it will start regardless of the ignition position?

By putting the pump direct to the battery the pump works, and the car runs sweet!

So I am guessing its either a bad wire or the realy box above the servo has failed?

The relay pack I can see operating, plus the resistance in around 66Ohms, which according to Flying Scott's guide sounds about right.

The inertia switch Is the one by the wiper motor?

How would I test it?

Try just pressing it first. Maybe you bumped it and tripped it. Just push the center of it.

I had the same problem with a non runner i purchased last week . I disconnected the inherit switch and ran a wire from the connection ( think it is the purple/ white if my short term memory serves me right ) . Anyhow its the feed going from the inherit switch straight to the pump . I connected this wire straight to the fuse box and up it came . Now i had to find the problem , no 12volts going to the inherit switch .The feeder wire from for power to the inherit switch is the brown / white and the fuse for this is located behind the carb . I cut out this inline fuse and soldered in a new blade type inline fuse and used heat shrink over the joints . That was it fixed . I replaced all the inline fuses in the same manner as I've a load of gremlins to sort out with the car .

Different wiring on the later models...check first.
I take it you mean the fuel cut off switch Williams 1980?
