Brooklands Museum secures Heritage Lottery Fund investment
One of the UK’s most historically significant sites for motoring, aviation and engineering is to undergo a significant redevelopment to bring to life more of its remarkable history, thanks to funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). Brooklands Museum in Weybridge, Surrey, has today received a confirmed grant of £4.681million from HLF for its ‘Brooklands Aircraft Factory & Race Track Revival Project’.
This project will transform the Museum’s Grade II listed Second World War Wellington Hangar into ‘The Brooklands Aircraft Factory’; build a new annexe (the ‘Flight Shed’) to house more of the Museum’s outstanding collection of historic aircraft; and restore the Finishing Straight of the Brooklands Race Track, the world’s first purpose-built motor-racing circuit.

Brooklands Mini Day, Weybridge, Surrey - Sunday 29th March 2015
"All types of Mini (including the modern BMW) are invited to this annual event, so expect displays in all areas of the Museum site. From the oldest to the newest, this year’s event will see some of the earliest examples nestling among hundreds of Minis and their variations including vans and pickups. As always Test Hill will be in action (subject to weather). There will be a variety of trade stands offering mini parts, spares and memorabilia."

I was watching this on the news too. To be completed within 18months too, they're not hanging about. Sounds really exciting.

My fav museum ever.Mini day is great but it's well worth a visit at any time.I used to go there back in the early eighties when 95% of it was derelict and overgrown but you could still walk virtually the entire track.Sadly a lot has gone in the recent re development, most of the runway is now MB World.A good many of the large aircraft were actually flown in in the ninties, there's some great footage on You Tube.

Most excellent news!

I'd love to go to Brooklands especially after this is completed!

It really is about time thought!  It is a site of great historical importance after all!

Brilliant news. Brooklands is a lovely place to be and the staff are always welcoming. They deserve this.
