My steering wheel on my 95SPI is not coming off for S***

It will only be on there with friction, loosen the nut until its on the last couple of threads and then I tend to hit the back of the wheel at 12 and 6, then 3 and 9, rinse and repeat until it releases itself, but that should get it.

it sounds so stupid I know! ive gave it some and used various different methods... and lets be fair its a Mini, its only going to tolerate a certain amount until something breaks ![]()

As long as you pull it straight along the line of the steering column it shouldn't break anything. The weak link would be the drop bracket if you try and rotate the wheel but pulling straight should see it off.

I cannot say with certainty that a '95 would have the same type of steering column as early cars. However, early cars like mine have a tapered set of splines on the end of the column that engage the steering wheel hub. Therefore, a fair amount of force is required to unseat the mated splines, it is not as simple as just pulling the wheel off.
Since I am unfamiliar with when air bags were added to the Mini I am uncomfortable with commenting further.
