Can any one tell me what length the oil gallery plugs are (mini spares part 2K1345) as they are out of stock and I need to make some up to solve an oil leak.

thanks

Stephen

The plug is also tapered so it's not simply a straight 6.25mm piece of brass.  Unless you are committed to buying this part from Mini Spares, consider using other sources.  A quick Google of the part number provided a page of hits for other possible sources for the plug.

I am an old equipment designer and our drawings always included a footnote "Do Not Scale Drawing".  That meant to NOT take measurements from part outlines on a drawing, assume they were to scale, and use those measurements.

That being said, I took the JPG linked below, printed it out HUGE and measured it.  It appears the plug should be 6.25mm (roughly 1/4") long.  (6.25mm start taper, 6.95mm end taper according to the MS part description).

I fit 5/16" UNF Grub Screws, then they can be removed again, easily for cleaning at the next build.

The one that goes in from the front, does need to be short and fitted with care though, so you don't block off the relief port.
