Hi peeps :)

How hard is it to modify a HS2 alloy inlet?

I roughly know what to do ( although pics are always welcome ( hint hint :D ) ) .

But what worries me is getting the 2 inlet trackts the same shape so they flow the same. Or isn't this SO important and am I over-conserning?

Tool- wise I was thinking about a little dremel to do th ejob? Or is very rough sanding paper a better alternative on alloy?

Many thanks :)

diego

Do you mean flowing the manifold ? If yes you can remove the obvious flash marks [ lines and edges left by casting ] , and that will help a little . Also matching it to your head will help . Do not expect miracles though . I would not waste your time going mad with it , you do not need to be removing anywhere near enough volume of material to worry about different shapes or volumes .

You should buy David Vizards book , it would help you a lot with background knowledge to fill i the gaps , and then you have a reference as well .

Was going for maniflow, but I see that minispares sell a modded original inlet, and I like an original look :)

Yeah, the biggest part is the balance tube I've heard, minispares make their manifolds to reduce the 'crossflow' or somethign liek that, but gettign it equal a both sides ( and effectively eliminate crosflow) is one of those things that I m unsure off.. :P

It's not hard to modify a BMC twin inlet manifold, but takes time and there are some fiddly bits if you are going to get good results.

As mentioned above, what you need to do is explained very well in Vizards book, essential reading.

What happened to the Weber? Thought you were having lots of success with your setup? As above with Vizards book, you wont gain much by flowing the manifold other than removing the obvious casting marks, the best gains from flowing the intake tract is in the head as it bends towards the valves, this is where the biggest restriction is.

I do have lots of succes with the weber, works way better than my old HS2 setup ;)

But I did find out what the problem was with the twin su's. And when I'll be going to the MOT they'll be happier to see SU's than a weber probably. Not sure if I'm making the swap again though.
