We put all our scrap outside...fridge, freezers, washing machines, sink, car batteries, sofas, anything will go normally on the same day within a few hours

Put it at the bottom of the drive and most of the time someone will knock the door even though its obviously scrap...cant complain really

Your adding to the fly tipping everywhere then, fridges and freezers contain damaging gases and chemicals and should be degassed properly, all they do is knock the motor off the back and dump the rest. Your also costing yourself money.. car batteries can be worth up to a fiver aswell(depending on how big they are), sinks(normally stainless steel) are worth a few quid too. General iron/steel is almost worthless.

Car battery...fuel costs to get somewhere to sell a battery probably isnt worth it...time too

My point really was that its amazing how fast stuff disappears...

I wonder how much of this was due to scrap merchants and p@&kies nicking stuff and dumping the bits that they could weight in for scrap etc. Bet there's contents from a few dodgy house and garden clearance jobs there too
