Hi
I'm in the process of having a new front end on my 93 spi.
Thought I'd paint the engine up a bit as the access is there.
The block in my car has been painted before but it looks too good to be a refurb job, more like one that's been painted from new like the updated blocks you get.
It is(now was) painted red.
Stamped into the from was this

WFM1024

Does that mean anything to anyone?

Cheers
Nic

WFM1024 is not a part number or at least not a Rover part number, it's a casting number referenced only by the manufacturer of the original casting, it means nothing in the context of the engine specification or use...

A+ 1275's were  all bar a few painted red from factory, MPi's are Black, as were the majority of A series 1275's in the BL era, and various shades of Green prior to that...

It is said that red ones go faster, but more often than not burn brightly for less time...

Black does show the oil leaks far less than the brighter colours, because we all know the A series does know how to leak oil!

Nice answers. Thanks guys. So it's the stock 1275 engine. I'm quite happy with that.
I am lucky enough to have no oil leaks on mine and long may it stay that way!!
