Hello,

I saw in a build log somewhere that someone had replaced the pin in the door hinge with a bolt. I cant for the life of me find which build it was.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

That would be a bad choice.  The pins are very inexpensive and easy to replace.  If a bolt were used, it would possibly have more play.  It would also wear very quickly because the bearing surface is reduced (i.e., the threads offer a much smaller surface than the correct solid door pins.)

That is a very good point.

Maybe, it was some sort of rod, but maybe i'll just remove the pins.

Cheers mate

Where do you buy them? It looks like Minispares only has new pins for the external hinges. Both my doors are hanging now :/

I don't know.  I foolishly made the assumption that they were available and cheap.  It appears that they need to be replaced as per the above posts.

All well and good but the hinge itself wears too so replacing the pin won't take up all of the slop

exacly. i took a hinge apart the other day as a bolt had sheered off and the pin was fine. but the pivoting bit that was where the wear was.
