Can someone give me a quick picture of how the valve stem seal ring is placed on A series heads?

Can't figure out how to do it -.-

thanks!

Which type have you got ? The normal "cup" type simply just push onto the guide.

Got both, but I'm wondering how the 'doughnut type' fits :)

As the cup type doesn't sit tight enough imho..

Have your guides got rings machined round them ? Unless they're plain, without, the cup type seals should fit snugly without issue. You need to push them right down properly so they can engage.

They're plain ( would this mean new guides on a A series head?)

Its weard, when I put them on my CAM4810 head they are snug, but not on the 295 head O.o

thanks!

That will be the groove being a little to low, you can take a bit off the top of the guide to cure this

Sorry just read that yours are plain, not sure what to do here if they are already installed in the head

Sounds like you have the wrong guides installed for your valves....

The early valves the O ring sits on the valve stem and runs up and down the guide...

Later the 'cap' type valve stem seals were introduced and they are held in place by a radial groove in the outside of the guide.

Do they still sell the grooved valve guides?

I've only seen the plain guides installed in very old heads. All valve guides available now have the groove machined in them. If you do install new guides, you'll need it recut the valve seats.

That's about all you can get.

The O Type are a waste of time fitting them.

Hmm, not something I can do? Or buy the tooling for?
As my mini is the only way of transporting, and is currently without a head ( well I have my bike, but doing 20 km's with a head on your back is not that easy (yes I've tried it, 5kms already hurt like hell :P)
