Why would one need to recut the valve seats if replacing the guides?

new valve guides fitted, reamed to size then the new valve offered up to see how far out it was before the seat was recut

just a tad!

re-cutting the seats was followed by plenty of lapping with three different grit pastes the result being just about a perfect seal

Only a little bit :D the valve guides do seem to have a groove at the bottom, wich i couldnt see with the spacer fitted..

I've got a 12g202 head and it to has valve guides with no groove......

Hmm, just had a word with a local machine shop , they would charge 112 euro's to cut 8 valve seats... Belgian prices, gotta love it...

Wow....last year I was charged just $106 to shave .005 off the head, and re seat the valves and then put it back together
