We bought a Mini from the CarShop last year (mistake #1?) a 2007 Cooper convertible and bought into their warranty and servicing/MoT scheme for 12 months (mistake #2?).
The self centring on the gearstick didn't (self centre) and there was a horrible judder on the clutch, so it went back in for a warranty job.
When it came back, it had an annoying rattle that sounded like a loose heatshield or something similar, so I took it back. They told me the problem was loose baffles in the back box, so the whole of the centre and back would need to be replaced at £198.
I took the car into a local garage (one we trust implicitly), apparently there's nothing obviously wrong with the backbox, at least nothing that would cause an MoT failure, so that was no problem.
We immediately traced the cause of the annoying rattle - something that looked like a bracket loose between the bottom of the exhaust downpipe and a cross member. Only problem is, no one knows what it is - can anyone here help?
