Help With Engine Removal!

Hi, could anyone give me a guide to removing my 1275 engine with an engine crane. Cheers

first remove all the cables , exelerator and choke cable , disconnect fuel line , best take the bonnet off first , disconnect battery just in case , disconnect clutch , some one else can carry on from here as I have not taken one out in 32 years .

If you have a Haynes manual have a look in there, I have removed 2 engines using the guide in there, I like it because it goes through each step.

I'm a sucker for punishment as I'm looking for a mini to work on now lol , god help me .

Seconded - just recently taken my 998 out for the first time, found it very easy to follow.

 

As far as the actual lift, I used four load points (2 rocker cover bolts as primary, 2 exh man studs as secondary) and a load leveller which can help angling the engine as it comes up. Work it out slowly and keep checking around for any forgotten attachments or catching. Speedo cable will need to be removed at half way out.

 

Hardest part for me was getting the bolts out of the rad side mount - gave up and ground it off in the end

Yea good point I use a load leveller as well makes it much easier, until the mechanism breakes so you have to use a spanner to move the load to the other side of the pivot.
