Hello all,

I haven't used the forum as such before so bare with me. I have organised a weekend away with my club, over the weekend of the 25th/26th July. All necessary details are outlined below and further details will come closer to the time. Anyway if you are interested please leave me some details or comment or however it works on this thing. There are limited spaces and some paperwork to fill in so only tell me you're interested if you are serious.

Thanks,

Craig.

Flintshire Mini Owners Club Weekend Away

25th July- 26th July

This weekend away is a new endeavour for the club. The two days are split

between a run on the Saturday, camping overnight and then join in the static event on the Sunday at the Llangollen Railway. This event coincides with the Llangollen Railway’s 1960’s weekend. The railway has been very kind in allowing us to join in with their event.

The Saturday will start out at the Britannia Inn, Halkyn at 10.00. We will leave ten minutes later. From here I will take the lead towards World’s End, we will then head towards the Rhug Farm estate for lunch, after this we will go to Bala lake or lake Vyrnwy (not sure which one yet) and do a lap around a lake. After we have completed our trip, we shall head back towards our camping spot, in the field next door to Glyndyfrdwy station.

The field is very picturesque, however facilities are somewhat limited. There is a toilet on the station platform which we can use and if you are that desperate you can take a bathe in the River Dee, which the field backs onto. Camping overnight costs £7 (last year’s rate that I assume will be the same). Hopefully we will have a gazebo to use for our stay. I thought it would also be nice to have a BBQ on the Saturday night, so if people bring their own BBQ’s and food that would be great.

On the Sunday we are remaining part of the static show. This show is certainly a lovely one, where the organisers actually give something back to exhibitors. In the past we have been given tickets for the railway. Therefore you can just enjoy the location or go out into town via vintage rail travel. I would prefer it that we all stayed at the show till at least 3pm, if only out of respect for the kindness of the railway. It should be a most relaxing day.

Finally, I hope you can join us for this event. Just keep me informed either in person, via the MiniForum or through the Flintshire Mini Owners Club Facebook page. Try to give me notice that you are coming. It should be a good’un!
