Did this problem just start? Can you describe when this occurred.
Problems with the SRS system fall into two categories 1) Wiring issues 2) Component failures.
Always remember that there is a need to very careful with the system to prevent accidental firing of the airbag, so disconnect the battery and leave for at least 15 minutes before messing with it. Don't use a multimeter if the components are connected.
After battery disconnection and a cup of tea... Check all the plugged in connectors on the yellow cables, on each component as they can be dislodged. Also check the ECU at the rear seat; damp?
Does the horn work? This can give a clue to the condition of the rotary coupler in the steering wheel which also connects the airbag.
The easiest way is to plug a code reader into these but unless you have the correct type that you can beg or borrow, you will have to go step by step.

As above I had problems with this last summer! Mine turned out to just be a poor connection and has been fine ever since! However when I purchased the car, I had the problem then too, after some fiddling around we thought we'd try a different rotary coupler and the problem was solved! Hope you get this sorted!
