Soooo close to firing her up after being garaged for two years.

Spotted a broken wire that appears to bend towards the coil.

I think it's yellow or yellow & black or yellow will grime on it or just a really grimey white!

 

Any ideas?...1989 998cc

Clean the wires and change the termials, the white black goes to negative, white yellow goes to positive, pink white that goes through the ballast resistor goes to positive.

so would that broken one go on the far connector, back to back with the black & white cable?

No, it goes to positive as said above, it is white/yellow (white with a yellow tracer). Clean it and you will see what colour it is and the terminal markings, also clean it and the ignition will work better. The plastic that ignition parts are made from naturally repels water, the dirt clinging to it all absorbs water and causes poor running.

sorry, yes...just rereading. I guess it attached to the same connector as the pink white....guessing the black is where it should be.

 

Will clean up and replace all connectors tonigh.

Don't guess.  Clean it all as Dan said and connect as listed above.  If you are in doubt after cleaning all the wires and the coil, post a new picture of the cleaned bits and we'll walk you through it.
