Can anyone please help me. The ,fruits of my loins, has cooked his 998 engine!! due to lack of the stuff that they are short of in the south these days (i only told him three times to top it up, but hey thats the grumpy old man.
he has bought an998/1098 engine complete, but it looks different somehow to me and i think that it may be from a metro??
How to tell the differenc? and if it is a metro what to do to make it fit.
Yours in utter frustration with a potential student.

Bugger put this in the wrong section!
this is what kids do for you.

It could be an A+ engine, there are a few minor differences but they interchange well.

Here is one topic re: 'A or A+' Click me
and there are more on the forum as well.

Welcome to TMF by the way!

i have yet to see a Bachelor of Arts (or Science) in common sense, and they say you can do a degree in anything these days!

I finished my degree last year but still know little about the ins and outs of my mini, but you only learn that through experience, maybe a suitable 'punishment' would be to get him to replace it with you!?

Having removed all of the skin on my knuckles when fitting hi - lo's, its his turn.
I fancy just sitting there with a suitable beverage tutting and saying 'i wouldnt do it like that son if i were you, but....'
this promises to be an entertaining week/ weekend.

If you can manage to push the boundaries a bit further and get some photos posted on here of the engine, it might give people a better chance to explain the differences :D

Sounds like you're going to have fun ! lol

or just find the engine number and look in the FAQ for Guessworks guide and it will tell you what it is
