Hi,

Needing to change the head gasket on my mini, its a 1300gt gold seal engine with 11 stud head, and there are various different gaskets, been told the copper one is the one to go for but I have also spoken with a local mini parts supplier who offered a BK450 gasket, just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction ?  is the BK450 gasket alright or something else more suited ?

Thanks,

James

Hey, got my head gasket changed and right enough the edge between cylinder 2 and 3 had been blown, put all back together and it wont start ?  checked compression and I have nothing in cylinders 2 and 3 still ?  and not enough compression to start the engine.

the mini was standing in the garage for roughly 2 years before an attempt to start it was made and our local mechanic reckons when trying to start it with the time it stood some dirt or rust may have set in and scored the cylinders when starting?

Wondering if anyone else has had similar issues or any other thoughts ?

Thanks

What was the condition of the cylinders when the head was off?

sorry i didnt explain myself very well, its the mechanic who is doing the work not myself :shy:.  he never mentioned the condition of the pistons but i would assume they looked okay since he was unsure what the problem could be. I was just trying to find out if anyones had a similar problem or knows what it might be. thanks
