Hi

We have already implemented and tested (and sold) many of the Rover diagnostic protocols, but only recently implemented the MEMS 1.6 protocol as used by the early model SPI Minis.

We did the development on a Rover 800 ECU and it is working well, but really it needs to be tested now on a Mini.

Is there anyone with an SPI Mini upto about 1997 who can meet me either in West London area (i.e. Ruislip) or in Hertfordshire area (i.e. Hatfield) to test it out?

The later model SPIs (from about 1997 onwards) with MEMS2J have a 16 pin J1962 connector under the dash which we have already tested.  If you have one of those you are welcome to a demo but these are not the cars that we are really after.

However if you have these connectors

then we would really like to meet you.

Thanks, Philip, pscan.eu LTD

1997 onwards cars in the uk are MPi, rather than SPi, just to add to your description :)

I have one of these green sockets on my mini but the car has a carburettor.

What would it be used for or is that the loom would have been been produced for both models during the change over from carb to spi and therefore redundant on my car?

My car is a 1994 Mini Mayfair Auto

Green socket is for the alarm unit.

Do the carburettor ones with the green socket (I didn't know such a thing existed) use a 5AS alarm module or something else?  Is it just an alarm or is it also an immobiliser?

We are doing quite well with the 5AS protocol as well but it isn't yet ready for testing.

You can also get SPi cars with the green socket for the alarm aswell. It's completely hit and miss as mine didn't have one!

Thanks for the interesting info.

The car does have an alarm and immobiliser fitted as standard. Think its 3AS, the one before the 5AS.
