The AH stands for AmpèreHour The capacity in the form of Current drawn from a battery is expressed in the number of Amps that can be drawn during 1 hour.

So more Ah means a better capacity.

On these forums there are some posts with more detailed advice such as http://www.theminifo...ni-battery-box/

096 baterries can be found here > http://www.eurocarpa...6-car-batteries

If i had to choose between the two above i would be more inclinded to choose the second as it has more AH (downside its a cheap chinese counterpart)

(personally i have a Bosch S3 Battery 096)

Hope this helps.

The battery really is only there for starting the car, once it's running, then you need to be sure your alternator has enough capacity to run the car and all the accessories and this doesn't necessarily mean a big alternator either.

One aspect of alternator selection apart from total output Amps is how many amps it will make at the speeds you drive at, ie, if you spend a lot of time in traffic, then the alternator will only be spinning quite slow, so output will be low.

As an example, there are 70 amp alternators available for Minis, get bit of kit, however I read somewhere the other day that they won't make 70 amps until spinning at 6000 RPM.

Those are 063 batterys and will fit the battery box.

The Bosch S4 has a 4 year guarantee and has all your needs within your budget.

The most important thing really is the CCA - Cold cranking Amps. That is what spins the engine over from cold whilst supplying the ignition to fire it up.

With a high-compression engine, say over about 10.5:1, high CCA's are needed and I always run at 530 CCA with my 11.1:1 C.R.

Amp hours are not so important so long as the alternator is providing sufficient power at normal revs to power all the electrical stuff fitted. To establish whether this is happening, do a power loading list with the wattage of each individual item that can be on at any one time listed. Add all the watts together and divide by 12. This gives the amperage required from the alternator, but there needs to be a bit of excess power so that the battery continues to charge, so add 20% to that maximum and fit the next size alternator available.

Use proper engineering techniques. Calculate everything.
