I'm replacing the throttle cable pinch bolt on my HS4 carb because the cable was just threaded through the hole in the throttle arm and a choke pinch bolt stopped it pulling through. The return spring was then hooked through the same hole in the throttle arm.

The washers have to fit in the order shown due to the diameter of the holes. But then I'm stuck.

1) Assuming the untrheaded shank fits through the throttle arm, there is still about 2mm of slack with the split pin fitted. That seems wrong.

2) If both the copper and steel washer are fitted on the threaded shank, there's barely enough thread for the nut once the throttle cable is in threaded through the hole in the shank. Obviously the nut needs to be tight, but this doesn't seem quite right either.

3) And if the unthreaded shank goes through the hole in the throttle arm, there's no longer anywhere to fit the return spring, unless that fits between the two washers ... which makes a bit of sense.

HELP!!!!!!!!

Just use one washer between the cable and pinch nut.

Take up the slack between the split pin and throttle arm with additional washers but remember it needs to ba allowed to rotate and not stick.

There should be a hole in the throttle plate that the spring hook fits onto. It doesnt fit onto the cable retainer.

I'm out at the moment but once I get home I'll post up a piccy.

Edit - Just looked at some photos and Im not so sure now. I'll have a look when I get home.

Mines like this -

The spring on mine attaches to an elongated washer with a hole in it which the spring attaches to.

You might be able to see it a bit better here -

Thanks.
Now I know what I should have been looking for I found there should indeed be a return spring "tag". So I made one out of a shaved down penny washer.
