Hi peeps!

to remove the gudgeon pin on those floating pin types ( A+ series I guess?) do you also have to heat up the conrod?

Or can you just tap it out?

To re-insert the pin you'll need a press I saw? Or heat the object, but I 'm not that keen on doing that as I read you can overheat the conrod?

Haven't done this before so any advice is welcome!

thanks!

Diego

I think you're actually referring to press fits.

Honestly, if you've not done them before and don't have the right tooling, I'd strong;y suggest having them swapped out by your friendly machine shop.

While they are at it, have them close and hone the big ends and do an alignment check / correct.

Could be :D

looks like this : SEVUBHM1137__41796.1405428101.1280.1280.

Well, that was my plan too if it would be too hard, don't want to do something wrong and end up breaking a piston orso... Probably they can get them out too very easy?

by the way, can you fit circlips? Or is that a totally different conrod?

Push out cold. Only heat the rod to refit the pin. Only heat to straw colour. Practice first, and you need a press and a proper jig to hold the piston or you will damage it. Use 1000grit paper to clean the rod bores, and measure the internal size at room temp to ensure you have at least 0.0008" interference fit before you assemble. If you can't do this measuring leave it to a professional.

Only do this if you can make the proper tooling.

I do it differently...

I hold the rod in the vice and the blow torch in my hand ;) P:
