My steering wheel is looking alittle worse for wear, I've looked for new ones but none of the options seem to have an airbag as an option. Is there somewhere I've missed or maybe somewhere that I can get it recovered from?

The gear knob is in a similar situation, I've looked at replacements, but afew have said they are not compatible with a lift up reverse? Are the older mini's gearstick built differently?

As far as I know your airbag steering wheels are limited to the Mini one or the MGF one (basically identical).

As for gear knobs, there are loads out there. What kind of style were you after? The gearchange is the same on MPis as on early Minis with that gearbox.

You could get your current wheel retrimed? Mine's in at the moment as I don't want an aftermarket one and want to keep the airbag.

I can see the first gear knob might not be the best for selecting reverse but the second one would be fine I would have thought.

How long is it gone for & roughly how much? I'm guessing you have an mpi too?

Wood and Pickett did a boss adaptor to fit mota lita steering wheels (non airbag) to mpi cars, they seem to be discontinued now though.

You need to ring them and ask. I'm having something a little bit unique.

You can get non-airbag wheels to fit on the MPi easily enough but the problem you will have is the SRS light will come on, which is an instant failure come MOT. In the past, it's not underhand of to remove the bulb and make it look ok! A switched on MOT tested that knows Minis would realise it should have an airbag and therefore the SRS light should be on.

There are some decent re-trims available now, you can have some decent quality leather or Alcantara to make it look quite nice. The black and cream Rover ones can look nice if you have a matching cream leather interior (although I think the shades may be a bit different).
