Trying to get the old paint and clearcoat off some alloys.

Nitromors did literally nothing... Didn't even mark the wheels.

The jet wash on the other hand stripped it very well, almost everything apart from a few bits.

Is there a paint stripper that still works? I know the EU regulations changed.

Thanks

beaten to it by 1 min lol… When you take the top off you can see the fumes, apply it and within a few seconds paint starts bubbling up

I know it's not paint stripper but if you want to take the wheels down to bare steel/alloy I'd use are wire brush attachment in a drill/grinder. Takes it all off and doesn't mark the surface heavily. Unnoticeable after paint.

I wont be repainting, but re polishing, so ill just do that probably.

Do you mean one of these?

I used B and Q Diall paint stripper to remove gloss from a cast iron fireplace. Cheaper than Nitromors and worked better. Those paint/rust removing fleeces for angle grinders are good too as they don't produce sparks, though around £6 each.

I have 10 wheels to strip for my RSP so just ordered some stripper from the above link.

I tried Nitromors but as above the old tin I had in the garage worked a treat on 2 of the wheels but the new stuff did not even damage the paint on the rest.

I tried knotted wheels but you cannot get into the little gaps and my blaster is too weak to do the job.

Fingers crossed this stuff gets the job done.

Try this link posted a few weeks ago.....

http://www.theminifo...r-coat-removal/

All strippers available from your usual places (B&Q etc) are namby pamby stuff nowadays...shame!!!!

I've recently stripped some powdercoat off my rally wheels with Nitromors...but it does take time (a few hours to do anything and then a second coat is also needed). You are right, Nitromors is nothing like it used to be - you only had to wave a paint brush with some on it at some paint and it would jump off.....now the paint just sits there and slowly softens.

You need nasty stuff to do the job properly but thanks to EU bureaucrats (who assume we'll drink the stuff!!!) we can only get watery rubbish.

Have a look through the link above...a brand called Paramose is mentioned....this should do the trick but they won't sell to yer average Joe Bloggs....you need to buy through a company.
