Hi;

Probably have this info lurking around somewhere but cannot find it, hence the post.

I just need some advice on painting steps for primer seam sealer etc.

Inside the Boot

After replacing the rear half of the boot and the outer arches I cleaned the floor dwn to bare metal and then applied 1 coat of Epoxy Mastic Primer, brushed in and then smoothed with a roller.

On the rear of the back seat I flatted down the existing paint but where there where scratches I took it back to bare metal and also applied Epoxy Primer.

Should I apply another coat of epoxy primer before I seam seal or should I seam sill and then apply another coat of epoxy or should I just use Cellulose Filler Primer on top of the Seam Sealer?

How many coats of primer?

Here's the boot at the mo.

Underside

After repairing the underside I stripped it back to bare metal and applied 1 x brush coat of Epoxy Primer smoothed with a roller.

Again should I apply another coat of Epoxy before the Seam Sealer, or should I apply the Seam Sealer and then another coat of Epoxy Primer?

I will then coat with U-POL Stone Chip and finally Top Coat with Cellulose.

Any advice on these steps would be appreciated, thanks

The order I have seen recommended is prime-seamseal-prime. I am doing this on my project, using BH Electrox and Upol seam sealer.

I know some people on the mig forum and elsewhere have had issues with stonechip paints and top coats so I would do a quick Google just to make sure gravitex and cellulose are compatible.

As above, you need to prime (or mastic) then seam seal, then I'd give it another coat of mastic or primer then your gravitex / topcoat.

Gravitex over epoxy will be fine, and celly over gravitex should be ok, but best to test a small area first. Make sure its fully dry before checking it as the celly solvent is likely to soften the gravitex just while it dries.
