Hi All,

I am after a bit of advice as not an expert on the A Series engine!

I am looking at getting back into Autograss and running in class 4 which allows for engine capacity up to 1130cc, so ideal mini territory!

I have been looking for a car and have come across a very well built one that used to run class 5 (engine up to 1420cc) the engine spec is as follows:-

Straight cut box with Salisbury LSD, lightened and ballanced flywheel, paddle clutch, full race cam, vernier adjustable duplex timing gear, race followers, balanced and polished 1505 crank, polished and balanced rods, Omega 74mm slipper pistons, polished & ported Bryan Slarke head, bronze guides, 1.5 roller rockers, 48 webber, metro turbo block giving 1400cc

As you can see pretty well sorted

My question is a lot of the parts can be used in class 4 (head, box etc) however i am guessing that there is now way of short stroking and decking the block to get the cc down and that i will require a new block, crank, pistons etc, if this is the case then without using a 1071 crank (hugely expensive!) hows the best way to get up to near 1130cc??

Just trying to assess if its worth going for

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Shaun

crank and rods can be got to make it a base 1100 and allow the rest to be used if it is under the size.

you say 1400cc and 74mm might be too big some math is needed.

class 5 are all purpose built rear engine machines running 1400cc Vauxhall or similar motors, front wheel drive is no longer competitive unfortunately
