Hi guys, I've had some 1.5 rockers laying around for a while now and have been waiting to fit them to my Mpi, however during their hibernation I seem to have misplaced the instructions, I know they're a pretty straight forward fit; however I was unsure as to what the feeler gauge settings for the inlet & outlet valves should be? Many thanks

I think 15 thou for inlet and 18 thou for exhaust... But I could be wrong

With all roller tip rockers, its very important to slide the feeler in from the side and NOT from the front. If done from the front, the roller will simply roll in the feeler while compression the spring slightly.

Thanks for the responses guys, however my rockers aren't roller rockers, does that make a difference to the settings?

I have recently adjusted my partners 1.5 roller rockers to 15 thou as per the Haynes Manuals standard settings for non roller type rockers. I have since been told that 17 thou is the correct adjustment. It would be helpful to have this confirmed.

Can anyone confirm what settings are required for 1:5 roller rockers on an MPI please? I have adjusted them several times now and cannot stop them sounding like an old Fiesta. they are very noisy unless I go to a tight 15 though.

I am worried about the damage it may be causing if i have them too tight. The engine has double valve springs and uprated followers etc, could any of this be contributing?

Stock cam? Usually the cam manufacture will have a setting for you. Interested to hear what people think as I run 12-13 though on my stock rockered SPI with Piper 255 cam.

I believe 12 is for standard and when I brought my 1.5 rollers the instructions stated 15. I set mine to this and it's been awesome. 17 would sound like a bag of marbles in a tin can.
Hope this helps.
You can always check with the manufacturer eg minisport etc.

You will never get through a MOT with them ! Co2 will be too high !

MPI's struggle to get through MOT anyway. I have had a play over the weekend and have set them at 15 and 17. 15 is surprisingly noisier than that 17. We have left them at 17 as this seems to be the best so far. The car is quieter and runs like a dream

Please don't feel like I'm criticising, but if you're meaning in terms of emissions, why do you say that? I've just gone through all my MOT emission print outs and the CO levels are never above 0.00%, HC never above 11ppm and lambda has been bang on 1.00 which has meant it has passed with flying colours with an engine coming onto 72k miles.

The problem comes when you start tuning them. Adding Rockers, Cams etc causes issues with Emissions. Our MPI has had the works and is pushing 100bhp. It really struggles to pass emissions. Changing the ECU would fix this as its the standard ECU that cant cope with the tuning.
