Hi, I've been trying to get my wobble sorted out. When I get to about 60mph you can feel the whole car shake. Through the steering wheel and the seat. If you push through to 70mph you feel it a lot less.
I've had all 4 wheels balanced twice, the front wheels aligned, and a puncture fixed. I've had new front shock absorbers replaced. Tyre treads are good. No uneven wear, and pressures Ok.
Any thoughts??
Thanks

Have a look at the rest of the bushes , even the engine ones. Have you checked your wheels bearing? When was the last time the greese nipples saw any action😉

Get a lever in there and give them a bit of leverage any bad ones will have excessive play. Edit: also check your shock bushes and check for any loose nuts.

Just because the wheels are balanced doesn't mean they are necessarily round or in line.

On my car if you jack up the car so the wheels are just off the ground and spin them around the tyres are obviously not round.. You can notice this especially when coasting slowly.

How did you get the alignment checked - was it diy or at a garage. Mine is still not perfect but I got a big improvement when I had the tracking done - didn't realise it could make that much difference. I did mine on a trakrite and am tempted to go to a proper place to see if I can get any better.

What about the drive shafts - are they ok? I wouldn't suggest changing them just to see as it's a lot of time and money if it's not them.

Does it make any difference if you are coasting or under power ? Not sure what the answer will tell us - power would suggest drive line and coast wheels/ suspension I think.

Does sound a bit like a front wheel bearing, but as others have said get it up on axel stands and go round the suspension and steering with a pry bar looking for play and / or perished rubber bushes. Grab the wheels firmly with your hands in the 2:45 ish position and try and rock the wheel to feel for play in the bearings. If you think you can feel any play get an assistant to sit in the car and press the brake pedal and check again. If the play goes away with the brakes on look at the bearings and hub.

Whilst i am sure that in the majority of cases the problem may lie at the front do not forget to check the obvious at the rear. I had a similar situation to this which 'bugged' me for a long time. The car just wanted to shake itsef apart after 65MPH. I diagnosed it as speed not RPM related as it only occured once you exceeded 65MPH. You could hit 4000 RPM in 2nd and everything was fine. It was finally diagnosed following an MOT failure this year. The diagnosis of the problem was also masked bythe fact that it seemed to appear after working on the front of the car. This was just coincidental. The problem was with the rear tyre where the sidewall had begun to fail on the inside. Once the tyre was changed everything ran as smooth as silk all the way through 80. Just out of interest the guy who MOT'd the car checked the age of the tyre and found it to be of 1993 vintage. It was the original rear tyre that came with the car from new !!!  :ohno: . This is a fact I am not proud of though it does verify the that cars mileage is pretty accurate.

long time back I had similar vibration problem on mini fitted with aftermarket alloys.

Finally found that one of the wheels was running off centre, the holes for the wheel studs/nuts had not been drilled in the right place...
