Hi All,
It's a sad time as i've negelcted my Cooper for far too long and it deserves to be restored to its former glory, unfortunately I just dont have the facilities any more since my parents moved to Cornwall so can't carry out the bodywork restoration that is needed.
The car is a 1993 Mini Cooper Spi with the stage 1 works kit fitted which was done when the car was new (also have the genuine certificate along with the Ltd edition plate inside the car (see pic)) It's covered just over 79k and does not have MOT or Tax.
Good bits:
Engine runs perfectly although a new battery will be required
I carried out an overhaul of the engine bay including the removal of the head to give a general inspection and de-coke and reseating of the valves, new pipes were put in for the oil cooler as they were looking tired and a complete new cooling system. At the same time all filters etc where replaced inline with a major service. As mentioned the engine is a joy to hear! The car has KAD quickshift and KAD handbrake quadrants, Goodbridge break hoses, KYB adjusta shocks, polybushed for a more precise feel, Motolita steering wheel, Thatcham approved Clifford alarm and immobiliser etc. etc.
Bad Bits:
As mentioned this is being sold as a project car, I took the car for an MOT around a year ago to see what is required to get this back on the road, essentially it needs a complete new floor from boot to the front, there are also the usual suspect areas (A-panels, front wings, under headlights, bottomm of one of the doors, under whee arches where it meets the floor etc.)
This car was a previous Cat D, I was driving through the countryside on the way home from work and a lorry came to fast round a corner and came onto my side of the road so had no choice but to swerve as I didn't fanc a head on with a lorry...the result was that the front panels and bonnet where dented by a bush, I bought the car back from the insurance company and purchased all new heritage panels which were fitted by a guy that restored minis in Reading although he's no longer with us.
There is tons of paperwork and if you are interested then I'm more than hapy to try and answer your questions and am also more than happy for you to come and view the car (Based in Bracknell, Berkshire)
I'm asking for £800 which I belive is a fair price for a project car given the spec level and condition of engine. As I said happy to take viewings with no obligation to purchase if it's not what you are looking for.
Car will need to be collected on a trailer as it's not road legel (No MOT) this will need to be arranged by the person that buys the car.
I've done my best to give an honest appraisal without going into minute detail so as previously mentioned I'm happy to answer questions and accept viewings.
Cheers
Justin D.
I've taken a load of pictures which are available to view at the following link:
