not saying they are all the same - but the one I was just looking at , was electronic ,
no cable , as are most cars now
would take a bit of electronic knowledge , to get it working ,
but I bet someone has done it
I suspect the BMW BINI has the abs computer dealing with output to the speedo

The only good thing about a bini speedo is it's got more numbers on it.
