If they have been laying over, they should be stood and bled before making such an assessment.

Stood and bled??? I though shocks should extend on there own. Unless there goosed. By bled do you mean extend them and leave them to stand??

It depends on the type of damper. Most dampers do not extend to full lenght on their own, including adjustable types. The only dampers which self-extend in my experience are the KYB or Kayaba "Gasadgust" ones.Stood and bled??? I though shocks should extend on there own. Unless there goosed. By bled do you mean extend them and leave them to stand??

Most dampers are only adjustable one way. Most commonly on rebound (pulling the shock back out - extending the travel) so turning the adjustment knob wont make any difference when you try to compress it.
