I'm going to order some new halogen headlights for my clubman and would like a new wiring loom for them as the ones I have are a bit rough. However the loom that they sell seems to be for sealed beam units only. Are these totally incompatible with halogens and if they can't be used where can I get ones to suit as an internet search has come up with nothing?!!

There is no difference between headlamp looms for Halogen or Sealed beam.

You may need to modify the sidelight connections on Round-nose Mini's but on Clubman's the sidelight is in the front panel.

Phil.

Cheers for the quick reply Phil! I was thinking there shouldn't be a difference with the two fittings but for once I thought it best to get a second opinion! I've done away with the clubman sidelight/indicator units and fitted round indicator units on the front panel so I'm looking for lights with intergral sidelights. I'm looking at the S4698B Quadoptic units from minispares, unless anyone can recommend better!

I haven't tried Quadoptics but I know they've been slated on this forum.  I've recently changed from Autopals (which have been recommended on TMF) to Cibies.  The Cibies are much, much better in their beam pattern, they are also three times the price.

I really like this set up. It came about through a conversation about the wiring on my car which David is helping me with.

It removes most of the current from the switch and makes uprating headlights far safer. Running increased current through the original loom is a very bad idea. Best case scenario the switch fails, worst case you lose headlights and crash or the car catches fire.
