You could fit louvers in the bonnet father than such a drastic measure. Wouldn't it make it all floppy and weak.

It's not normally done unless the car's using a fibreglass front end and in that case it is normally for weight reduction.

The grill opening on a Mini if gigantic compared to most vehicles and gets more than enough air through it.

If you are concerned about over heating you would be better off buying as decent multi core radiator and an auxiliary electric fan. It's amazing how many people fork out for a high spec engine and then stick it back in with a 20 year old + radiator that's full of rust deposits and seem amazed when it overheats.

I would  leave them in. Shame to cut up mini when its not really necessary. MOT man might not like it, you will have to strengthen it with brace bars.Think ahead when its time to sell it on, it could effect its value to some people.

Nope, not necessary at all.

Okay nice one people thanks I didn't really want to cut it that why thought I'd ask and I already have a alloy rad just didn't know if it would still get too hot but my plan is to have the rear of the bonnet slightly raised too

You won't need to do that either, I'd just fit an aux. fan to the inner wing for traffic and it'll be fine.

Counter productive if you have a side radiator. The engine bay serves as a dam for the air, you'd be diverting some of it from going through the radiator and lowering the pressure and thus density and heat carrying capabilities. If you were to do anything, I'd experiment with some vents to reduce the pressure under the outer wings, still likely to be of negligible benefit at Mini speeds.

You could consider an oil cooler, but it must be fitted with a thermostat.

Cool oil which is too cool is as bad as too hot
