It could well be worth your while to get an experienced hand to walk you through the bearings, ball joints cv assembly..... have it done in front of you once with some good questions and pointers and then easily managed by yourself for the rest of time..... it is not worth continued risk taking in these 'important'- ie life threatening' jobs through continued trial and error..... anyone local who could give a hand?...

I think it has already been mentioned, remove the whole hub assembly, remove bearing and do a detailed inspection for any damage to the hub, CV etc. Refit with a new bearing, castle nut if the hub is reusable. This is an item that cannot and must not be "give it a try". It has to be done correctly without cutting corners.

I completely agree with you both, safety is paramount. I'm planning on replacing pretty much the entire drive assembly on both sides (http://www.theminifo...steering-parts/) I'm about 1 payday away from having enough cash to buy all the parts needed. I just didn't want to buy all the parts and do all the work only to find out that there's some other defective component causing play in the wheel that I should've replaced while I was doing the work.
