In the mid  90s Marcos cars of Wiltshire , famous for the Mini Marcos and the Marcos Mantis had a contract  with Checker Motors  of Tokyo to build 100 special edition Mini Marcos Coopers S for Japan Jem Marsh of Marcos built the cars new as a replica Cooper S using a Richard Longman modified 1300 twin carburettor engine and supplied  complete with period changes.

This has reappeared. I'm slightly undecided as to what this is and what value it should have.
http://www.crosskeys...-MARCOS-MINI...

its a replica basically but (hopefully) properly solid and sorted. A good car to drive rather than worry about the value maybe.
It has some nice bits but a bit confused, external hinges, mk 1 grill but black interior mk2 style, no chrome front window trim but twin tanks. Longman sorted engine and hi lows.
My first car was a slightly bitza mk2 cooper (now exported - anyone any history to XRR 990H?) and I'd quite like one but not enough to stretch to cooper s figures now. I'm not quite sure what I'd do with it!
This one has been around a bit in the last year - failed to sell at cca auctions, did sell at a Poole auction for 11.5k (including buyers prem) and been on ebay a couple of times without huge success it seems. So not massively popular.

Might go and have a nosey if I have time and I've just spotted that somerford minis are closer than I thought.
Anyone seen one or have one of these?
