Cleaning Silicone Hoses

Anybody know how I can remove this without damaging the hose finish itself. I don't want a stupid looking white logo on the black hoses I've ordered. There's a reason I ordered black, so it doesn't look daft

Best to ask Minispares?
Or see if they do logoless versions?

Acetone is the best cleaner for cured silicone. It also does a pretty good job of removing most pigments. Next best would be brake and clutch cleaner, not sure how that would be at removing the pigment but it wont damage the silicone.

to be honest, I would not try to remove it, as you could damaged the strength of the stuff. If that does not bother you, try a strong de-greaser.

Also, someone had used acetone and it left a full patch where the logo once was. I'd be ok with that but apparently acetone is too strong for silicone hoses and can cause damage.
Looks like I'll probably be fitting the old rubber ones to my new engine and sending these back.
Why anyone would want logos all over the black hoses is beyond me. If I wanted crap like that all over my engine bay I would've gone full chav and ordered blue ones

Thanks for the link, they don't offer the correct kit for my car. Once again another supplier that thinks rover only made injection minis. Could order a 1275gt kit but I'd still be left with no top radiator hose. Also, £105 is a bit much to be waiting 8 weeks!

If its got a thin layer of clear over it, then there is noting to do really. Seems like a lot of extra work just to keep their logos from coming off!
Acetone isnt too strong for pure silicone - i use it everyday with no problems. Not sure what the makeup of the hose silicone is, but it may be that the others that have used acetone have gone to town and abraded the surface, and then blamed the acetone!
Never understood the need to over logo products, a discreet logo here and there is fine but some manufacturers do go OTT.

I hated the massive in your face logo as well, I very carefully scratched mine off a year ago with a scalpel.

Mines have some other logo on them, they were purchased from mini spares though. I guess as long as it does the job no one is going to see most of the time?

You could try that, just treating the end 1/2 inch, then eave it a while. If it's degraded, cut it off. If no harm done, be braver.
Alternatively, keep the bonnet closed.

yeah i have some blue ones from minispares with the logo on. the logo almost seems to be silicone based itself so nothing touched it when i tried to get it off.
even tried sanding one of the logos off using some fine grit sandpaper, it did not work just made it look like something had been rubbing on the pipe.
grab a black sharpie pen and fill in the logo?
