Ive got a 16 blade metal fan but im not sure which way round it goes? the blades either bow out in the middle or in depending on which way round, surely it goes the way that you cant see the back support type brackets doesnt it?
I will try and put a pic up tonight to explain it better but any ideas?

Stand at the front of the car and look down at the engine. While running, the fan turns away from you toward the firewall. You want the blades cupped such that they scoop air from the engine compartment and blow air through the inner wing onto the front tire.
..............Fan
engine---- ( -------- radiator

If you look down on the engine from above, the fins should be (engine) / (rad), not (engine) \ (rad), if you get that!

The MG-1100 and Austin America both used transverse A-series engines so their basic layout was identical to the Mini. Take a look at this site for more info on cooling:

cheers dklawson interesting site.
the fan is shiney side out so I will see the chrome side.
Took a pic with effectively engine on the left and rad on the right as if you were looking down on it from the front of the car, and this looks right.
