I am planning on changing my harnesses from some old blue Luke ones (2", standard buckle) to some nice new Silver ones, to go better with a black car.

But cant decide whether to have both harnesses identical or not.  If money no object then I would go with both 3" straps and a rotary buckle from Willans but at nearly £200 a piece i'm struggling to justify!

So, do you think it looks better to have matching harnesses or not?  (both seats are the same)  Or does it look cooler to have a really decent drivers harness with 3" straps and cheaper 2" for the passenger?

Also any thoughts on Luke or Willans, ie do you think Willans are worth 20-30% more?  - Are Luke it bit max power??

Pics of mini interiors showing harness installs would be appreciated.

I have no idea how to answer your question BUT.

look cooler to have a really decent drivers harness with 3" straps and cheaper 2" for the passenger?

My priority would be with the passenger having the better harness!

Is it just me?

Hmmm they do do Silver Harnesses and more places stock them, I just think Schroth are a bit new school for a classic mini?

Am i Wrong, i'm willing to be persuaded?

I'd go Willans, whenever I see a car with Luke harnesses or towing strap I assume their name is Luke!

The problem with the turn buckle is they aren't actually road legal...

It's a pain as the road legal ones tend to quite poor..

Was about to say this always bear in mind that the aircraft style release are not road legal and as such may invalidate your insurance. Unfortunately pointless trying to declare it as I cant think of a single insurance company who would insure your for an illegal mod :-(

Is it documented anywhere that all aircraft style harnesses are not road legal? Only asking as there are road cars with that type of harness that obviously are legal and type approved - Renault R26.R is a good example.

It's not that they're not legal. They don't all have the correct Type Approval for road use. Most of the multi - fit 3", turnbuckle ones aren't approved for road use. Obviously if they're OE on a car, the manufacturer will have type approval for that. I'd need to read up properly on it, but I think it's all related to the e - marking.
