Hi,

As mentioned in the title, I have a whirring noise that occurs at the first turn of the key, Must be electrical as the engine isn't turning over. It is worse in the cold as well.

It isn't an Issue but i would like to put my mind at ease. It is a 1997 MPI.

Thanks

Yes it does, But does that prime on the first key turn? It doesn't fade either.

It's an MPi fuel pump primes the system on turning the key. Open the boot lid and you'll hear it louder.
It's supposed to do that, unless you have another problem?

I have the same on my spi, it's nothing to worry about. Just the electric pump priming and pressurising the fuel system.

As above, I have an MPI fuel tank in my custom setup, and with ignition on the fuel pressure guage on the regulator shows fuel pressure before engine running.

I Have found it. I have the standard fuel pump whirring, after that finishes it starts. I have traced it to the heating system at the centre console so shouldn't be a massive issue......
