Rocker Pedestal Nuts.

Larger ones ... along the front.

Cylinder head studs and nuts hold the rockers on plus the four thinner studs, two of which hold the rocker cover on.

Hey,

Earlier today we were trying to remove the cylinder head from the mini following the Haynes Manual. All was going well until it asked us to "Slacken the four Rocker Pedestal Nuts".

On the rockers there are 4 at the front, and 4 at the back, which of these nuts have to be removed in order to lift off the assembly? As I would like to be certain before going back out tomorrow and removing it.

Thanks.

If you're taking the cylinder head off then would suggest first taking the rocker assembly off first.

For this you need to remove the 4 large and the 4 smaller nuts. Then the whole rocker assembly should lift off.

You can then take all of the pushrods out. If it's a small bore engine (with tappet covers on back of block) then give the pushrods a sideways jiggle as you pull them up, this is to prevent the cam followers getting dislodged.
