Dropping Steering Column

Best Answer wile e coyote , 19 May 2015 - 06:00 PM

The cheaper ones act as an extension to the existing bracket - and yes they simply lower the angle of the column but......you lose a bit of the "solid" feel in doing so (if installing one remember to loosen the steering rack clamps first and tighten up afterwards) the far more expensive ones are an entire replacement bracket - much better without the "floppy / insubstantial" feel.......

The cheap ones are flimsy and not particularly safe. Jon Betts on here does a far better version or there is the DSN alloy one. Whichever you decide to use YOU MUST slacken the steering rack mounting clamps to allow the rack the rotate slightly otherwise you will put too much pressure on the spline drive into the rack.
