Hi,

Just wondering if anyone happens to know the specifications (resistance Empty and Full) for the Smiths Fuel Gauge as used in the late 60's minis?

Cheers
Matt

I believe it is 20 Ohms full and 240 Ohms empty. Just trying to get my facts straight!

Assuming you meant the sending unit resistance, Matt68 is correct. I've never measured the gauge's resistance.

For what it's worth... the 20-240 ohms range is nominal and will vary by as much as 10 ohms or so on each end of the scale from sender to sender.

Thanks dklawson! I meant the sender unit resistance! For what it is worth I found your PDF on adding resisters to get the sender and gauge working in unison! Very informative, I have printed it and it is now in my workshop manual supplement pages ;-)

I now need to know how to check the voltage stabiliser, so after a search, I'll post a new topic!

Oh, and the sender in the tank measured 237 Ohms empty and 25 Ohms full, so I know it is working within reason!
