Hiya folks, me again!

Which is the leaner needle on HIF38 carbs? The needles i have are AAB and AAU, currently fitted is the AAB which is too rich( plugs are black, engine wont take any less fuel (any leaner it starves the engine)

Thanks again

Try this, really useful : http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/suneedle/

AAB is a lot richer than AAU

Also depends a lot on your engine build.

Is this on a small bore or a 1275?

I would think if you have a stock 998, an AAU would still be a bit rich.....if this HIF38 is on a 1275 then it should be good.

I run an AAU in my small bore and it's perfect.  My engine is slightly more than stock however

Oops should have said, this engine is a 1993 1275 sprite (according to the engine code) but the inlet/ exhaust ports look smoothed out...

Our stock 998(has stage one kit fitted) is running an AAU needle, runs good
