Making Up A Engine Number For Dvla

Hi i posted a while ago and engine change and go response but im gonna try again lol . Im building a 1071 engine and its has no numbers so i read somewhere just make one up using the right engine code i.e
9F/Sa/H ??? Or can i register an engine with out one? Any help cheers

As far as DVLA are concerned the engine number can be anything so yes just make something up. I'd steer clear of trying to use the "correct" engine code as that may end up with you unwittingly creating a duplicate (not a massive issue but can create confusion). Go for something like your initials, the capacity and the date the engine was built maybe.

 

So if your name was John Harry Smith and it's a 1071 you built today then give it the "number" JHS/1071CC/03062015
