Hi all,

Anyone use welding seam sealer?  What are the pros and cons?  Does it hold moisture?

I sometimes have very small pin holes that this would solve, I notice that it was used in original manufacture.

Comments and experiences please

Thanks John

If you mean, does anyone seam seal their welds, then yes, I always do.

If you have pin holes then they need to be filled with weld. No point in sealing them.

The best method i find with dealing with these is where possible shine a light behind the welded area, mark the pin holes then weld them up.

Just had a go, used masking tape to get a neater edge, haven't done up as far as pin holes as I will weld them up as suggested.

It will hardly notice once painted.

Dipping the paint brush in thinners before applying the seam sealer can give a good finish.

I do the same as Sonnik and shine a light behind the weld to see the pinholes. I then prime, then usually use Upol grey stripe which is a good brushable seam sealer, then prime again. Tiger Seal is very good too, when you want a thinner more accurate bead.
